U.S. Air Force basic military training graduates recite the oath of enlistment administered by Lt. Gen. David D. Thompson, Air Force Space Command vice commander, during an Air Force BMT graduation Mar. 13, 2020, inside the Pfingston Reception Center auditorium at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The 37th Training Wing canceled the BMT graduation parade scheduled for March 13 at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland’s parade grounds out of concern for the safety of the newly accessioned Airmen and their family members due to the novel coronavirus. The graduation ceremonies will be closed to the public until further notice for safety and security.

At Sandboxx, we are always working hard to listen to our customers and families. In this series, learn more about people who utilize Sandboxx to stay connected with their recruits and trainees.

Emily with her Airman

Meet Emily, an Air Force Milspouse. Despite the distance, Sandboxx has helped her stay connected with her husband.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your recruit or your recent graduate. Where are you from? Which branch of the military is your recruit in?

My Airman is from Louisiana but we both reside in Tennessee. He enlisted in December for the Air Force and left for basic toward the end of April. He just graduated this past week!

How did sending letters with Sandboxx help you connect and stay in touch with your recruit during basic training?

Sandboxx allowed me to send letters with pictures so that my airman and all of his wingmen could enjoy. They passed the inspirational letters around so they could all have some daily encouragement.

How did you first hear about Sandboxx? After using it for a while, what do you think about Sandboxx?

I heard about Sandboxx through a friend who is also in the Air Force. I really enjoyed using the app because it allowed me to send multiple letters within a week and I was able to track them all. I could also see when my Airman wrote back to me!

Any plans for your recruit after basic training? What’s next for you or for them?

My Airman is on his way to Tech school for the next 4 months. Once he finishes with that, he’ll be able to come back home to finish out the rest of his service.
