What should I write in my Letters to Coast Guard boot camp?

Over the next eight weeks recruits will be pushed beyond their limits and, if successful, transition into a United States Coast Guardsman. Mental and physical exhaustion will become the norm as the loved one you said goodbye to is transformed into a completely new person. To help you become a boot camp Letter expert we’ve put together a list of some topics for you to write about when writing Letters to Coast Guard boot camp.

1. Share your days with them.

Let your recruit know about some big or small events that happened to you throughout your day. Although you may think that type of information might be boring to them, recruits will love to hear about what you are doing and will help them feel included in your life still.

2. Share your pride.

Coast Guard boot camp was not designed to be easy, and for many recruits boot camp will challenge their will to move on. Let your recruit you are so proud of EVERYTHING they are doing. This will help let your recruit know that on bad days or good days you couldn’t be more proud of them for choosing this journey.

3. Share your excitement.

Let them know you’re counting down the days to see them, and you can’t wait! This will help motivate your recruit to keep their spirits high and that there is a finish line. Talk to them about the first meal you’ll have with them after graduation so that they can begin to look forward to more than just being done with boot camp.

4. Share some motivation.

Like we said, Coast Guard boot camp is tough. Your recruit is bound to face a lot of days when they being to doubt themselves and their decision to be there. Find some motivational quotes online, or add one of our motivational quotes in your Letters to give them that extra push to get through the long days. There’s no such thing as sending too much motivation.

5. Share memories with them.

Have a funny memory of you and your recruit, or saw something that made you think of them, let them know! Your recruit is going to enjoy knowing that you haven’t forgotten about them, remember these Letters are the only communication they will get for eight weeks.

Your Letters to your recruit don’t need to be long and they don’t need to be fancy.  What’s important is that you’re sending mail to support them through this journey.
